Session 02 - Pierced Eye of the Storm

Having landed on the safehouse in the eye of the psychic storm, the party take a brief rest... before an all consuming rift conjured by the remains of the Pierced Eye threatens to engulf the safehouse. The party ventures into the psychic storm to stop the ritual, but aren't able to escape before a whirlpool takes them to another world.

Summary

Having been launched in a storage crate from a planar whirlpool while escaping their Pierced Eye Pirate pursuers, the party and the prisoners they escorted were pulled to shore by a flying Sir Zedledev of Searing Truth. Arriving on the island, the party noted the antenna structure above the safehouse which created a pocket of safety within the psychic storm that raged around them.

Before they could ascend the cliffside to the safehouse, a hard light blast shot down at therm from above. The orc mercenary Jacobi had been told to expect three to five mercenaries and up to five prisoners. The party, however, had freed all the prisoners held by the Pierced Eye Pirates, bringing their numbers up to 14. Over the course of a tensely shouted up a cliff in the midst of a storm negotiation, the party convinced Jacobi to allow them into the safehouse.

Arriving into the safehouse--an Abandoned Mapping Station--the party began to learn of those they had rescued. Among this number was Adelaide, who lead the Lephtie smugglers the party had originally been hired to retrieve; Ruzzat, a fable harvester; Cross, a prisoner of the congress with a modicum of experience in forgery; Kaan, a much cooler and hotter prisoner of the congress who had been arrested for severely fucking up the arm of a Hellion Core officer during a bar fight; and Nina, one of a number of undocumented Krull children that had been living in Ceto Prime.

Before the party had time to get comfortable with those they had rescued, Zed noticed a concerning light on the horizon. Consulting the mapping imagery within the outpost, Jacobi and the rest of the party determined that the psychic storm was creating an unnaturally large planar whirlpool: probably the result of some risky water elementalist ritual conducted by the remaining Pierced Eye Pirates. With the realization that this growing whirlpool threatened to swallow the safehouse, the party commandeered Jacobi's cargo ship and sailed into the psychic storm to stop this ritual.

The psychic storm created surges of planar energy, creating a manifold of rift the party had to navigate through. Not only that, but one such rift allowed a horde of demons to board Jacobi's the party's ship (though they were easily vanquished). By the time the party arrived at the site of the ritual, it was already well underway. Despite all being made very very wet, the party was able to defeat the Pierced Eye Pirates and stop their ritual before it destroyed the safehouse. However, now no longer being controlled, the planar whirlpool began to hurtle towards the party. In a momentary decision, the party decided not to risk the large, violent whirlpool... and instead jumped headlong into one of the smaller planar whirlpools near them.
